{Information and Awareness Campaign on Indoor Air Pollution and Kitchen Management cum Biomass Energy}

National ICS Network and Regional Renewable Energy Service Centre (RRESC), Kathmandu jointly organized “Information and Awareness Campaign on Indoor Air pollution and Kitchen Management cum Biomass Energy Technology Exhibition" at Dhadingbeshi from 29-30 December 2008. The two-day program was organized with collaborative support of Alternative Energy Promotion Centre (AEPC)/Energy Sector Assistance Program (ESAP) and Asia Regional Cookstove Program (ARECOP), Indonesia. The program was locally managed by Rural Mutual Development (RMD) which is also one of the ICS District Network Coordinator for Dhading. On the first day of the program, Mr. Bhusan Tuladher, Executive Director of Environment and Public Health Organization (ENPHO) made the presentation about indoor air pollution and health. Similarly, Mr. Pawan Shrestha of STARIC delivered a session on kitchen management in rural household. Mr. Rajeev Man Shrestha, Program Officer of Biomass Energy Support Program (BESP) of ESAP, Mr. Hari Gopal Gorkhali, Director of CRT/N, were also present during the program.
ESAP, CRT/N and Rural Energy Technology Service Centre (RETSC) exhibited different designs of stoves including mud stoves to portable metal stoves at the biomass energy technology exhibition. Practical Action-Nepal demonstrated smoke hood ICS technology for high hill areas and Foundation of Sustainable Technology (FoST) demonstrated paper briquetting technology that won Shell Foundation awards in 2008.
